What do you get when you mix a mom, a dad, and 6 children in an ENT office for 2 hours? Mayhem!!! Not really but I did threaten my kids repeatedly. Ok, not really on that one either, but I did insist that they all bring along their Ipods. Quite frankly I don't know what women did 30 years ago. I think back on my mom with her 6 children sitting in a doctors office and really I don't have to think back very hard to remember what kind of children we were.
On one particular visit my mom was meeting with an ear surgeon and the appointment not only took a long time but the doctor's office was located in the bay area which was a couple of hour drive for us. Luckily for my siblings and I the doctor's office had a drinking fountain right there in the waiting room which we all found absolutely delightful to play in. By the time my parents walked out of their appointment there was a substantial water puddle surrounding the fountain along with many toys cleaned as only children can delight in when water is part of the equation.
So, back to Rachael. I being somewhat brilliant at moments, threatened all the children that they dang well better have something to keep them occupied in the waiting room. Most of them had Ipods but of course in true doctor's office etiquette there was what else but a water cooler, and yes like a bee to honey my kids were at the water fountain in seconds flat!

The boys and Clairissa were "tuned in", and Rach, Mark, and I were filling out paperwork.

Ok, as you can see it wasn't all serious. Rachael was filling out the question on her paperwork that asks if you have any symptoms such as depression, etc. and then if yes, an explanation why. Mark's response was, depression? Yes, every time Matt walks away. High blood pressure? yes, every time she talks on the phone with Mike. My kids love being bantered and Mark loves bantering them so it is a good combination.
Finally they took us back to our room which was about the size of an 8x8 ft. square. Ok, maybe a little bit bigger but not by much. Of course after my doctor experience as a child I was not about to leave my children to "fend for themselves' in the waiting room with water present, so we all trooped down the hall to our cell to await the doctor. AA was having a little attitude so he didn't want to be very social, but other than that the kids were very well behaved.

Then the fun began. The doctor was a great sport and let me take pictures of Rachael's nose being examined. Hee hee hee!

The last picture is of course my favorite, how can it not be with glowing nostrils!
Of course no trip anywhere with my brood can be complete without a trip to the bathroom. I'll let you figure out who (plural) needed to go.

And then we were finally on our way with a nice long silent trip all the way home.
