Clarification on my Opinion

The strangest thing (for me) has happened. Apparently there are people out there that have nothing better to do with their time than to google Chaffetz name and post opinions on other people's blog posts about the subject. Since I posted my OPINION a few days ago, I have probably received 5 emails from people trying to convince me that what I read, heard, and quoted from Chaffetz site was a misrepresentation of his policy ideas. Let me just say that I went directly to Chaffetz personal web site to get quotes. I read through his immigration ideas and listened to the radio broadcasts that he had on his site in order to make sure that I did not misquote him. I'm glad that people like him. That is the beauty of our country, freedom of speech. I however, upon researching, am not impressed with this man. Did I say you should not vote for him? No. if he matches your values than by all means, go for it. But be informed. That is the theme of my post. Ok, yes I have an opinion as well, and I used my freedom of speech to voice it. But more than my opinion I just want people to research this man and quite frankly all the candidates before they go to vote in a few weeks.

Done. Finished. I might not post a political opinion again. :o) Or maybe I will. Hee hee hee.

Comments

YOu should post whatever you want sister! If people don't like what you have to say..then they can choose not to read it..right?
To comment on the comment above, the problem is, people can be downright rude if they disagree. It's like there's some unspoken rule that all tact goes out the window if someone should happen to have a different political opinion than you. It's hard to separate your personal feelings from a blog at times and not be offended when someone rips into you about a post.

Becky, I'm glad you wrote your clarification and that you are choosing to stick with your opinion!

What I Would Tell My Younger Self

Last week was a really tough week for our Bishop and family. First, my husband went out of town on business and it happened to overlap with our daughter and her babies visiting us. So, three days that she was here, he didn't get to see her. Then, he flew back into town Wed. around town and then we drove our daughter to the airport Thursday morning at 4:30. Yes, that is early, and yes, we did go back to bed when we got home. ;o) Then he worked all day Thursday and I will spare you the details but it was a bad day. His non-boss boss was in a foul mood and he got the brunt of it.  Thursday evening he had the yearly ward audit and didn't get home until close to 10. Friday was another fun filled day at work, and then Friday evening and Saturday were filled with youth conference which he attended and was a chaperone for during the entire event. Sunday was a rough "bishop" day that he couldn't talk about, and quite frankly, I didn't want to hear about.  That leads us...

Officially in the Limelight!

I had an interesting experience this evening. Without divulging more than I should, let's just say that I was told that people in my area are concerned that I have not kept my information about the stake changes private until the appropriate time. They were concerned that because I dated my blog post for the date of my writing some people thought that I had said something before the stake split announcement. Let me assure you that this isn't the case. I date my posts for the day that I write them but I didn't post them until Nov. 9th, the afternoon of the day of Stake conference. With that being said, this experience brought to my attention how much being a bishop's wife really is somewhat like being on show for everyone. Sometimes you are scrutinized and it is good, and sometimes it isn't so good.  I felt truly inspired to write and keep this blog so that people can get an idea of what a normal bishop's family is like. This however can be difficult because I ...
