100 things about me part 2

26. We have lived in 22 places in our married life. (some of those were with family so it isn't as bad as it sounds)
27. I love to cook as a family. Our favorite dishes to cook together are Orange Chicken and egg rolls, Pizza, Salad, and Breakfast dinners.
28. I make really, really good light and fluffy whole wheat bread.
29. I love the color red in all of it's various tints and shades.
30. I love old movies, even and including all the old classic Disney movies, musicals, and Doris Day movies.
31. I am really picky about the movies our family watches. We have a Clear Play dvd player and so now I don't even like our family to watch movies outside of our home because of the trashy content they will hear and see.
32. I was a complete nerd until high school. I even had stuff of mine thrown off of the bus. :o(
33. ok, I was probably still a nerd in high school but at least I had friends and choir with a place to fit in... and not all nerds got a chance to go to the Bahamas and Epcot!
34. I struggle with my self esteem.
35. I am horrible at all sports that involve a ball.
36. I had a talent for ballet but never had a chance to develop that talent once I exhausted the knowledge of my first teacher. We lived in the middle of nowhere and driving into town where there was good instruction was a long commute and my mom was at her emotional limits because my dad worked out of town all week long.
37. Whenever I go and watch a dance performance I get all teary eyed and emotional. see #36
38. I have a fear of swimming in the ocean. (sharks and drowning)
39. I have designed my own home to build someday.
40. I took 3 semesters of classes for a dance major when we lived in Cedar City but got really bad shin splints that wouldn't go away and couldn't continue.
41. I started taking classes for Interior design when we lived in Logan.
42. My favorite food ever is Parmesan Chicken with white rice and green beans or a big salad.
43. I would choose pie over cake any day.
44. I have a huge sweet tooth that I fight everyday.
45. I like entrepreneurial home based business things and have been involved in one way or another (in no particular order) with Melaluca (eco friendly cleaning products), Mary Kay, Avon, Stampin' Up, Creative Memories, Isagenix, and Kyani. I think they are great products and a fun atmosphere.
46. I owned my own bead store while we lived in Logan and Mark was going to grad school for his Masters.
47. I have served in church in the Relief Society, Young Womens, Primary, and the Activities Committee organizations. My longest stint however was the primary chorister calling which I have held 3 times.
48. I received my Patriarchal blessing on my sister's 16th birthday.
49. I love stake and general conference. Listening to our leaders and especially a modern day prophet gives me so much strength to draw upon.
50. I auditioned to be a cheer leader in high school but I bombed bad!

Officially in the Limelight!

I had an interesting experience this evening. Without divulging more than I should, let's just say that I was told that people in my area are concerned that I have not kept my information about the stake changes private until the appropriate time. They were concerned that because I dated my blog post for the date of my writing some people thought that I had said something before the stake split announcement. Let me assure you that this isn't the case. I date my posts for the day that I write them but I didn't post them until Nov. 9th, the afternoon of the day of Stake conference. With that being said, this experience brought to my attention how much being a bishop's wife really is somewhat like being on show for everyone. Sometimes you are scrutinized and it is good, and sometimes it isn't so good.  I felt truly inspired to write and keep this blog so that people can get an idea of what a normal bishop's family is like. This however can be difficult because I ...

Pushed to the Limits Sometimes

I have been pretty overwhelmed lately. Actually it seems to be a recurring theme in my life that I am not very pleased about. I tend to wonder why it is that I get into situations where I feel overwhelmed. I question my ability to put my life in the right perspective. So, next week in particular is going to be beastly! My larger roles will include....teacher, preschool teacher, employee (24 hours next week), mother, maid, and cook. The problem is that I don't feel like I am excelling at any of them. For instance Zach. He needs me to be a great teacher, to give him my best and most undivided attention. Instead I am giving my all to stay awake and the rest goes to him and Jillian.

Broccoli Salad

My children have this thing for broccoli salad and they beg me to make it weekly. Every time I make it I become mom of the week around here which I happen to like! One would think that it might be odd for kids to love broccoli salad, and I am not necessarily thinking it is normal, but I do know it is pretty tasty. I decided for today's post to share my recipe. Beware, I am all about easy so don't expect something elaborate, and I cook for a crowd so if you want to make this adjust to your size of family. 1/2 package of broccoli florets from Costco (chopped) 1/2 red cabbage (shredded) 2 handfuls (or add to desired preference) of Craisins 2 handfuls (or add to desired preference) of real bacon bits 2 handfuls (or add to desired preference) of unsalted sunflower seeds 1/2 a bottle of Kraft Creamy Poppyseed Dressing Mix Seriously, if my kids scarf this salad down I promise most kids will.
